Southampton fired manager Ralph Hasenhuttl after nearly four years in charge.
Hasenhuttl leaves the Saints following their 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday, which dropped them into the relegation zone after six losses in nine Premier League games.
After taking over at St Mary’s in December 2018, the Austrian was the Premier League’s fourth-longest serving manager.
During his tenure at the club, Southampton suffered two 9-0 defeats in the space of 16 months, losing at home to Leicester in October 2019 and then at Manchester United in February 2021.
Hasenhuttl, on the other hand, managed to keep Saints in the Premier League by leading them to 16th place in his first season in charge, followed by an 11th-place finish in 2019/20 and 15th-place finishes in his next two campaigns.
