Protests Rage On as Nigerians Demand Change
The #EndBadGovernance protests entered their seventh day on Wednesday with thousands of demonstrators taking to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The protests, organized in part by the Take-It-Back Movement, saw large crowds demanding immediate action from the government to address the nation’s pressing challenges. Images shared on social media showed protesters converging at Agbowo-UI in Ibadan and disrupting traffic in major Port Harcourt thoroughfares.
As the demonstrations enter their second week, there is no indication of a decline in public anger or determination to see systemic changes implemented.

Amnesty International has raised alarm over the arrest of over 1,000 Nigerians who participated in nationwide protests against hunger and poor governance. The global human rights organization accused the government of President Bola Tinubu of suppressing dissent rather than addressing the root causes of the protests.
According to the report, Kano State has the highest number of detained protesters with 632 in custody, while Sokoto State has 109. Amnesty International expressed deep concern over the mass arrests and urged the government to adopt a more constructive approach to handling the protesters’ demands.
