The immediately preceding vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has been named to the Board of Directors as chair of the Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A).
To help with the next stage of our expansion and our purpose of releasing Africa’s potential as a worldwide hub for climate action, Prof. Osinbajo has been invited to join the CAP-A Board of Directors as Chair.
“His vast experience and passion for transforming African countries’ economies in harmony with climatic needs will be invaluable to CAP-A’s mission, especially coming out of the inaugural Africa Climate Summit that made a strong push for accelerated climate action,” he continued.
When asked about his nomination, Prof. Osinbajo responded, “Since the recent formation of CAP-A, I have watched their work in altering the global and continental narrative from Africa being a victim of the climate crisis to having the key to accelerate global climate action.In order to support CAP-A’s teams and initiatives across the continent and to realize Africa’s economic development through climate positive growth, I’m honored to join the Board of Directors as Chair.
Prof. Osinbajo has eight years of experience as vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria, and he has also held positions as commissioner for justice and attorney general in the state of Lagos.
As a lawyer, he obtained the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
He has held the positions of Professor and Head of the Department of Public Law at the University of Lagos and is one of Nigeria’s foremost legal authorities.
Remember that the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet nominated Osinbajo as Global Advisor in July 2023 to help with its goal of boosting the adoption of clean energy in underdeveloped nations.
