At the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday, President Bola Tinubu hosted Mary Phee, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
According to Naija News, Phee met with President Tinubu to discuss US assistance to ECOWAS and other regional leaders in the reaction to the Niger situation.
Phee emphasized that the United States supports the ECOWAS position in defending democracy and constitutional order in West Africa and outlined the shared goals of maintaining the nation of Niger’s hard-won democracy.
The US diplomat also demanded President Mohamed Bazoum’s quick release and recuperation, as well as that of his family and the other unjustly jailed government officials.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, led a group of senior federal government officials that the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, hosted on Saturday.
The entourage also comprised the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Gas, Ekperipe Ekpo, and the Defense Minister, Mohammed Badaru.
Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, and numerous other senior military officials were also members of the trip.
Governor Fubara said that important national problems pertaining to oil assets and investments were discussed at the meeting.
