President Bola Tinubu recently attended the inauguration of Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, at Black Star Square in Accra, alongside former Nigerian Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
During his keynote speech, Tinubu praised Ghana’s democratic progress and called for an end to skepticism regarding Africa’s ability to achieve democratic success. He also applauded Mahama for his leadership and commitment to Ghana’s development, highlighting the strong historical and professional ties between Nigeria and Ghana.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s support, Tinubu assured Mahama, saying, “My dear brother, I am here to work with you. Nigeria’s support will always be available whenever you call on me.”
The event was also graced by the presence of former Presidents Jonathan and Obasanjo. Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015 following his role as acting president during Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s illness, and Obasanjo, a two-time Nigerian leader—first as a military head of state and later as a civilian president—remain influential figures in Nigeria’s political history.
