Controversial Nigerian street artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has stirred outrage online after making inflammatory comments about the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting to news of Buhari’s passing in the UK, where he had been receiving treatment, Portable released a video where he appeared to mock the late president, blaming him for the 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shooting that occurred during the nationwide #EndSARS protests.
“The man that said they should shoot our people at the Lekki Still Gate is dead. Let us do good. May he die again in Heaven. He was the one that ordered the shooting, not Tinubu. He died in London,” Portable said in the video.
He also captioned the video with a reflective message: “Do good because of tomorrow…”
Known for his brash persona and controversial statements, Portable used the moment to emphasize the importance of living a morally upright life, warning that actions carry weight even after death.
The Lekki Toll Gate shooting remains a deeply emotional chapter in Nigeria’s recent history, with many citizens still demanding justice for those affected during the protest.
