Controversial street pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, known as Portable, has faced intense backlash, losing 100,000 Instagram followers within hours of making contentious remarks about the ongoing protests in the country.
In a video circulating online, Portable claimed that there were no protests occurring in Sango, Ogun State, where he resides. He explained that previous demonstrations had been disregarded by the government, leading him and others in his area to focus on their daily work instead.
His remarks did not resonate well with many fans. Within just 12 hours of posting the video, Portable saw a significant drop of 100,000 Instagram followers, according to a popular blog.
Fans had warned they would unfollow him, and many followed through on their threats. Additional fans have indicated they will also unfollow Portable if he continues making similar statements.
Previously, Portable had made a video comparing himself to billionaire Aliko Dangote and described protests as activities for the poor.
