Controversial street-hop artist Portable has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta following his arraignment on assault-related charges in Ogun State.
The singer faced multiple charges, including conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause harm, after a reported altercation involving government officials.
Prior to his court appearance, Portable voluntarily surrendered to the police after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Command. He initially turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department before being transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, where he remained in custody until his hearing.
During the court proceedings, Portable’s lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for his release, stating that the singer was remorseful and had learned from the experience.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail set at N2 million, with the condition of providing one surety for the same amount. The trial has been adjourned until March 5 for further proceedings.
Additionally, nine of Portable’s associates were also arraigned before the magistrate on similar charges.
