James Ameh, a Mobile Policeman attached to Mopol 56 of the Nigerian Police Force on Thuesday evening got the beating of his life from fellow colleagues for daring to obstruct them while trying to collect bribe from a commercial bus driver.
The incident occurred at about 7pm in the evening at Eleme roundabout, Port Hacourt.
According to eye witnesses the commercial bus in which James was travelling was suddenly flagged down commando style for having flouted traffic rules.
The driver who was obviously used to this type of intimidation, alighted from the bus to negotiate payment for his throughfare.
The policemen who flagged him down insisted that he part away with a sum of five thousand naira. James who was seating in the front with the driver on hearing the demands his colleagues were making decided to come and plead on behalf of the driver.
However, James action miffed his colleagues and within a twinkle of an eye six hefty policemen started raining heavy blows on him.
For about five minutes they push him around, punching him in all places until he slips into a comma.
They later abandoned him to his fate, driving off after the shameful act.
After the villians cum policemen had left, sympathiser who had witnessed the whole hapless scenario quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital for first aid treatment.
In his reaction to the despicable act, The Commmisoner of Police Enugu State who confirmed the incident said “We know those said to be involved. And the whole issue is being investigated.”
