A task force inaugurated by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, to maintain discipline in the police on Friday arrested three policemen in Osun State for improper dressing.
The task force, which is under the Ethics and Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, has visited commands across the country.
Moving in an unmarked vehicle, the task force rounded up a policeman, who wore a pair of slippers and another, who did not tuck in his uniform at the popular Olaiya junction in Osogbo.
The third policeman was arrested at Ayetoro in a rumpled uniform.
Some members of the task force, who were approached for comments by our correspondent, declined, saying they had not been authorised to speak to the press.
The Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Sade Odoro, confirmed the establishment of the task force by the IG, adding that the state command had a similar monitoring unit.
She said, “In compliance with the order of the IG, the Osun command has set up a similar unit, which goes around to ensure that illegal roadblocks are not mounted by members of the force and other acts of indiscipline.”
“I do not know which of the monitoring units enforced the arrest. I know that the Osun command will not tolerate any act of indiscipline.”
