A KNIFE-WIELDING 14-year-old high school student was shot by a policeman in front of a crowd of children.
The unidentified teen had got into a fight outside the library when he pulled out two knives and attacked.
The altercation escalated, and the boy stabbed his classmate, according to local authorities.
A police officer on the Hug High School campus, in Nevada, US, was then caught on camera shooting the knife-wielding lad.
The student was taken to hospital, where he is in a critical condition.
Reno police spokesman Tim Broadway said the officer, whose identity is being withheld, is now on paid administrative leave.
A shocking video of the incident shared on social media starts with several students trying to get out of the way of a boy in a blue shirt who can be seen brandishing a knife.
A man’s voice can be heard yelling, “back up, back up!”
At 22 seconds, a single gunshot is heard and several students are screaming.
The camera then briefly points down and then points at the boy, who can be seen writhing in pain on the ground.
The cop is approaching the boy with a pistol drawn, still pointed at him.
School officials can be heard yelling: “get out of here!”
He kneels down and turns him over on his back, and then can be seen using his radio.
The school district confirmed the incident later on, saying “a student is in the hospital, and a thorough investigation is underway.”
