Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, has ordered an investigation into the death of ASP Shu’aibu Sani-Malunfashi.
DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer, issued the directive in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
According to him, on October 19, ASP Abdullahi Garba, officer-in-charge of the Sauwa Police Outpost, got into a fight with the deceased, a Divisional Crime Officer with the Argungu Division.
According to the spokesman, during the physical altercation in front of Garba’s shop, he stabbed Sani-Malunfashi on the left ribs with a pair of scissors.
Argungu, the Divisional Police Officer, rushed to the scene, arrested the wrongdoing officer, and recovered the exhibit (weapon).
The DPO rushed Sani Malunfashi to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Abdullahi Garba is now being held at the Birnin Kebbi State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The case has been referred to the homicide section as well.
CP Magaji-Kontagora has dispatched a team of senior police officers to express condolences to the deceased officer’s family and friends. He prayed to Allah, the Almighty, to grant him paradise.
