The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of two key suspects allegedly involved in the violent attack on Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh.
The suspects, Mathew Adewole, 25, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, were tracked down and apprehended at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, on September 11, 2025, after weeks of intelligence-driven surveillance.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, Adewole confessed to storming Lil Kesh’s Lagos home at Bera Estate, Chevron, on August 19, 2025, where the artist sustained a severe neck injury in what police have classified as an attempted murder.
Investigations revealed that during the incident, Adewole compelled the musician to transfer ₦2.12 million from his bank account to Muhammad’s account before fleeing.
“The Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in a recent case of armed robbery and attempted murder, thanks to its robust intelligence and community collaboration,” Haruna said.
He noted that the operation aligned with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s, directive to enhance intelligence-led policing and curb violent crime.
The suspects have been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for continued investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended officers for their prompt action and expressed appreciation to the public for their support.
