Speculations are rife that the explosive was planted at PDP party secretariat was

An eyewitness said the explosive was neatly packaged in a polythene bag, and discreetly dropped at the party secretariat at about 11.00 a.m.

Information about the presence of the strange object was promptly relayed to the police authority in the state.

It was gathered that the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 10, Muktari Ibrahim, and the state police commissioner immediately deployed a combined team of policemen from the Bomb Disposal Unit to the area, a development that saved what would have resulted in another major disaster.

“The polythene bag was located, scientifically examined and found to be containing high calibre Improvised Explosive Devices (IED),” a source said.

Personnel of the Police Bomb Disposal Unit were said to have thereafter carried out a controlled detonation of the explosives.

Police sources confirmed that nobody was harmed.
