POLICE ARREST 15 FOR HANGING ON TRAIN

No fewer than fifteen persons were arrested in the early hours of today by officers of the Nigerian Police force for hanging on train.

The police officers who were stationed in different strategic positions at the Ikeja along axis of the terminus arrested many person caught in the act..

However, after spirited effort the officers were able to arrest over 15 erring commuters.

Meanwhile,after the raid, a 14 seaters volkswagen bus was filled to capacity after which the police officers drove then to their station, and the commuters in the train commended the good work of the police at ensuring sanity in the rail system.

Lamenting,  Yinusa Liadi he said, “If the police can continue to go after the touts who hangs on train on daily basis the casualty figures recorded on daily basis will be reduced. Virtually everyday people fall off the train, still this unrepentant boys still hang on it, some go to the extent of sitting on a moving train, it is pathetic,”He said.

Another passenger, Femi Olanrewaju, wants the police to make the raid a daily activities, he said that is the only way the ugly activities can stop.

He said, “If not irresponsibility, how will a reasonable person embark on something he may not return from, a lot of their colleagues  have died in their presence, yet, they still mount on train.

“This is an act of irresponsibility and the government must wake up to its responsibility of protecting life and property of the citizen,” he said.
However,  the Lagos district Public Relations Officer Nigeria railway Corporation, Ademuyiwa Adekanbi said that the culprit may be charged to court.

In His words, “They are to pay penalty fee of N25,000:00 each, those that fail to pay will be charged to court for attempt to commit suicide.
