The Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has apprehended an ex-convict.
Yakub Yusuf, the suspect, was apprehended hours after being released from jail.
He had received a one-month sentence for stealing at a government fuel dump in Alausa, Ikeja.
Yusuf, 23, was convicted in early November but given the option of paying a fine.
A non-governmental organization paid the fine for his release less than two weeks into his sentence.
Yusuf was apprehended again after illegally entering the Lagos State Fire Service premises after regaining his freedom.
SP Police Public Relations Benjamin Hundeyin claimed he stole valve covers from old fire trucks that were being repaired.
CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi of the RRS has transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution.
