Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has shared the behind-the-scenes effort involved in making her son, Jamil Balogun’s dream come true by arranging a meeting with American streaming sensation IShowSpeed during his recent tour of Nigeria.
A Distant Plea
While attending the summit in Davos, Switzerland, thousands of miles away from home, Tiwa received a heartfelt request from her son via WhatsApp. Sharing screenshots of the chat, the singer revealed Jamil’s plea:
“Please, mommy, I know you can make me meet @IShowSpeed and I’m all the way in Davos…”
Making It Happen
Despite the distance, Tiwa immediately swung into action to coordinate the high-stakes celebrity encounter. She jokingly lamented the effort required but expressed her gratitude to several high-profile Nigerian event organizers who stepped in to help “save the day.” The hard work paid off, as she later posted a photo of a smiling Jamil standing proudly next to the streamer.
Timing Is Everything
The successful meeting occurred during an eventful period for IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr. Currently on his “Speed Does Africa” tour, his time in Lagos coincided with two major milestones: celebrating his 21st birthday and reaching a historic 50 million subscribers on YouTube.
