A serving Senator, Dantong Gyang alongside the Majority leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly,Hon. Gyang James Fulani have been confirmed dead by the Commissioner of Information,Plateau State.

The duo were allegedly murdered by unknown gunmen while attending the mass burial of some Fulani herdsmen who were killed yesterday at Kakuruk Village in Barikin Ladi Local Government Area .

 

However, reports reaching us from Plateau, indicates that Mr. Ruwang Dantong, the brother of the deceased senator told the News Agency of Nigeria that the senator collapsed and died of a heart attack after seeing the dead bodies of his murdered kinsmen.

 

Until his death Dantong Gyang was the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health.

 

Senator Datong won his first election into the Senate in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011. He was previously a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom federal constituency.

 

Hon. G yang James Fulaniwas representing Barkin Ladi constituency in the Plateau Assembly. Barkin Ladi is about 25 kilometres from the state’s capital, Jos.
