English broadcaster Piers Morgan has placed a £10,000 bet that Erik ten Hag will never win the Champions League or Premier League during his tenure at Manchester United.
Morgan’s jab at Ten Hag came after the manager’s response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent criticism of his leadership style.
Ronaldo left Manchester United for Al Nassr in 2022 after a series of public clashes with Ten Hag. In a recent appearance on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, Ronaldo criticized Ten Hag’s leadership, arguing that the manager should never publicly suggest that Manchester United is incapable of competing for major titles like the Premier League or UEFA Champions League, regardless of the reality.
Ten Hag dismissed Ronaldo’s remarks, suggesting that the Portuguese star, now based in Saudi Arabia, is out of touch with the current situation at United.
Morgan, a staunch Ronaldo supporter, took to his X account to express his challenge, writing: “Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and a Champions League with United. I’ll bet Ten Hag £10,000 to charity that he never wins either at United.”
