Manchester United players were so overjoyed by their FA Cup victory on Saturday that they couldn’t keep a lid on their FA Cup celebrations and ended up damaging the silverware.
When skipper, Wayne Rooney and midfielder, Michael Carrick lifted the famous old trophy after their extra-time win over Crystal Palace, the lid flew into the air then dropped from the Royal Box into the lower tier.
The Sun UK reports that security guards quickly retrieved it and noticed there was a large nasty-looking smash on it.
Now London silversmiths Thomas Lyte will repair the damage before sending it back via courier to Manchester.
According to the tabloid, “This is not the first time the FA Cup has been manhandled.
