Emiliano Sala’s body was yesterday finally laid to rest in home country of Argentina, and here are photos from his funeral.

The former Nantes star’s death has been described as “like a hard punch” as friends and family gathered for the Argentine’s funeral.

Emiliano Sala’s body was finally laid to rest after family members, football fans, administrators and lovers of the game gathered to pay their respect to the late Cardiff City striker during his funeral ceremony in Argentina on Saturday.

According to UK Sun report, his sister Romina, found it tough to control her emotions after Sala’s remains was taken to his first club at San Martin de Progreso.

The 28-year-old and pilot David Ibbotson were on board a Piper Malibu aircraft when it disappeared on January 21.

Sala was on his way to link up with Premier League side Cardiff after completing a club-record transfer move from Nantes two days earlier.

His body was last week recovered from the plane wreckage in the English Channel with the help of specialist contractors.

Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock and CEO Ken Choo were among the funeral attendees.
