A 25-year-old professional football player, Jovan Belcher this morning murdered his girl friend and within minutes committed suicide.
According to a report monitored on Fox New, the Kanasa Chiefs linebacker killed his girlfriend and mother of his 3 months old baby Kasandra Perkins around 7:50 this morning (December 1) and shortly afterwards he proceeded to the Chiefs stadium to shoot himself in the head in the presence of 3 staffs.
The Police were tip-offed of the homicide by Jovan’s mother who was spending the weekend.
A neighbor told FOXSports.com he was stunned by the tragedy. “There have never been any issues in the past,” said Freddie Sinclair, who lives next door to the site of the murder on the 5400 block of Crysler Ave.
At the Chiefs stadium the official who witnessed the unfortunate scene said he posed no threat to anyone as he calmly carried out the sordid act, even as the officials tried to convince him not to carry out the violent act.
Before killing himself Belcher thanked Pioli and Crennel the chiefs’ general manager and head coach for the opportunity to play for the Chiefs’ organization, then walked 30 or 40 feet away and fired one shot to his head as the three men looked on.
Belcher was in his fourth year with the Chiefs, joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Maine in 2009. A special teams staple, he earned the starting inside linebacker job at the start of the 2011 NFL season. He recorded 87 tackles that season.
His family have so far refused to issue a statement, but hinted they would do so later in the day.
so sad my prayers go out to here family….
