Peter Okoye, the dynamic singer and dancer from the legendary Psquare duo, is standing firm in his commitment to set the record straight, vowing to unveil the truth behind the allegations that he was responsible for the EFCC’s arrest of his twin brother, Paul.
Months ago, this controversy captivated the nation as reports emerged that Paul and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, were taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), igniting a frenzy on social media.
Paul, known for his defiance, took to Instagram to assert his innocence, proudly stating that his wealth came solely from his music career and not from any dubious activities, as some rumors suggested.
In a shocking twist, during an interview, Paul accused Peter of betraying him by orchestrating the EFCC’s arrest of both him and Jude in December 2023.
In response, Peter escalated the situation with a detailed and impassioned statement. He vehemently denied ever targeting his twin brother, explaining that his real issue was with their elder brother, Jude.
Peter revealed that Jude had been secretly diverting Psquare’s earnings into hidden accounts with the help of his wife. He clarified that his intention was never to involve Paul in the legal dispute, and he had specifically instructed his lawyers to keep Paul out of the petition, as his grievance was solely with Jude.
Peter expressed his shock and disappointment after hearing Paul’s interview, where he was accused of orchestrating the EFCC’s involvement. He recounted how he had attempted to resolve the matter privately, speaking to both Paul and Jude behind the scenes in hopes of finding a peaceful solution.
However, according to Peter, his efforts were in vain, as both brothers refused to provide a clear resolution, leaving him with no choice but to take legal action against Jude.
Peter Okoye didn’t just clear his name; he issued a challenge to Paul, daring him to produce any evidence—any petition—that implicated him, his management, or his legal team in targeting Paul or mentioning his name in connection with the EFCC investigation.
In his statement, Peter said:
“Let’s get the facts straight together. Here’s the full story on the recent EFCC matter involving P-SQUARE and our former manager and elder brother, Jude Okoye.
“I challenge PAUL, or anyone else, to present any petition that I, Peter Okoye, my management, or my legal team ever filed against my twin brother PAUL, or that even mentions his name.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. CC @officialefcc”
