Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has responded to critics who claim that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the party’s gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State, lacks the necessary experience for the job. During an interview with Arise TV, Obi pointed out that he was Rhodes-Vivour’s age when he became governor of Anambra State and had to overcome similar criticisms regarding his lack of governance experience.
Obi went on to praise Rhodes-Vivour as a “fantastic guy” and stated that politics is a collaboration between the young and old. He emphasized that there have been many successful leaders who came into governance without prior experience and that serving the people is a learning process.
When asked about Rhodes-Vivour’s lack of experience in Nigerian politics and public service, Obi cleverly responded, “Yes, he doesn’t have experience in corruption.” He concluded by stressing that the job of a leader is to listen and learn from others.
