Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed reports of his arrest circulating online, labeling them as false.
In a statement shared on his social media on Wednesday, Obi described the rumors as baseless fabrications aimed at distracting Nigerians from pressing national issues.
“The recurring fake news about me is unfortunate. I’ve been informed of false reports alleging my arrest, which are completely untrue. I am currently at my home in Onitsha, Anambra State,” Obi clarified.
He also highlighted a similar incident from September last year when rumors falsely claimed that DSS raided his home while he was actually in Rwanda.
Obi urged Nigerians to focus on the nation’s critical challenges and not be swayed by unfounded rumors.
“I appreciate the concern, support, and commitment of everyone to the pursuit of a better Nigeria. Together, it is achievable!” he concluded.
This comes amid reports that Obi has been in the spotlight since last Saturday over an alleged threat to his life by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The threat has been widely condemned, including by former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
