Lawflex, a Lagos-based law firm, has made a new decision regarding Peter Obi’s hidden assets in tax havens.
This comes as Lawflex asked the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to charge the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the February 25 election with failing to declare secret assets stashed in tax havens while governor of Anambra state.
According to The Cable, Lawflex made this known in a petition dated March 23, 2023, signed by Olukoya Ogungbeje, and received by the CCB Secretariat in Abuja.
The law firm urged the bureau to commence an immediate investigation against Obi and invite him for questioning.
In the letter written on March 23, Thursday, signed by Olukoya Ogungbeje and received by the CBB the same day, the firm said its purpose is to bring to the CCB’s notice an investigation on the issue done by PREMIUM TIMES.
The firm threatened to seek a “judicial review” if the CCB fails to take constitutional action within 30 days.
The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, might meet a formidable defence for the plans of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in court.
This is because the electoral body has set aside over N3bn to defend the outcome of presidential, the national assembly, governorship and state house of assembly elections in court.
The over N3bn INEC has voted is dedicated to defending different petitions challenging the outcome of the elections held on February 25 and March 18, 2023.
