Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the opposition and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has publicly distanced himself from electoral violence and misconduct. He urged anyone with evidence linking him to thuggery or election-related malpractice to come forward and make it known.
The former governor of Anambra State reaffirmed his commitment to clean politics, emphasizing that his political history remains untainted by violence or rigging.
“Throughout my political journey, I have never been involved in thuggery, the snatching of ballot boxes, or any form of electoral malpractice. I challenge anyone: conduct your investigations. You will find no stains of rigging or violence associated with my name.”
He added that he has always conducted himself fairly in politics and never resorted to false accusations or suppression of opponents.
“Ask those who have contested against me, none were ever denied their rights, framed, or falsely accused,” he concluded.
