Maverick musician Charles Oputa, known as Charly Boy, has shared insights about his close relationship with the late singer Tyna Onwudiwe, revealing that they almost got married.
Charly Boy addressed rumors that he was the father of some of Onwudiwe’s children, clarifying their connection. He recounted a conversation they had about marriage, during which he admitted, “I almost married Tyna. We sat down and talked about it, but I realized I couldn’t see myself with two wives.”
He humorously added, “If we had married, we would’ve ended up fighting. So, we decided to remain close friends, and we became the best of friends.”
Charly Boy spoke fondly of Tyna, describing her as a generous soul who would give her last penny to help others. He also reflected on how people used to tease him, calling her his wife, and acknowledged that some believed her children were his.
He revealed that during Tyna’s battle with cancer, he sought financial support for her treatment, but sadly, the disease claimed her life. Tyna Onwudiwe passed away on June 29, 2001, just 17 days after her 47th birthday.
