Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he wants to break the record by winning all four trophies his side are competing in in his debut season with the club.
City are currently second in the Premier League table, they have a 6-0 advantage over West Ham 6-0 in the Capital One Cup semi-final and face Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.
“It’s difficult [to win all four] but we’ll try,” Pellegrini said ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup third round replay at home to Blackburn Rovers.
“It’s important to have the mentality.”
Pellegrini spent his entire playing career at Universidad Chile, where he made more than 450 appearances. Since his retirement in 1986, he has managed 10 teams and has won titles in Ecuador, Argentina and Villareal.
No club has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup in one season, the closest being winning the treble. But Pellegrini believes it is possible with the right mentality.
“That’s why nobody has done it before. But I think we must have the mentality to try to do it.
“But we’re not thinking of winning the four competitions, we are just thinking of winning the FA Cup tie against Blackburn.
