The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has stated that the party has grown stronger following the defection of some of its members to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Monday and signed by its Director General, Emmanuel Agbo, the Forum criticized the defectors for launching “irresponsible verbal attacks” after realizing they had joined what it described as a “one-chance vehicle.”
The Forum compared the defectors to the Biblical prodigal son, adding that their departure has brought peace within the PDP. It also noted that the party remains open to welcoming back repentant members who show genuine remorse.
“Since their exit, the PDP has become much more formidable and focused, with clear determination to have our eyes on the ball.
The ADC before now, with their inordinate sense of entitlement, constituted a huge clog to the wheel of national unity and harmony.
The security situation in the country was of grave concern to the PDP governors, which took centre stage in our deliberation and resolution as contained in the communique.
That the ADC couldn’t see that much isn’t surprising, as the prodigal son wasn’t known to have any pity on his father’s fortune,” the Forum stated.
Notable politicians who left the PDP for the ADC include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former lawmaker Dino Melaye, among others who joined the opposition coalition.
