Nigerian singer Patoranking’s sister, Chioma Onuabuchi, and her husband, George Onuabuchi, have been laid to rest in their hometown of Uburu, Ebonyi State, following their tragic deaths in a gas explosion.

The couple, victims of a fatal explosion in their home in Abakaliki, were buried amid tears and sorrow.

A neighbor, Nwokporo Victor Uchechukwu, described the devastating incident:
“We only heard the sound of an explosion in the afternoon. When we rushed to the compound, smoke was coming out of the building. Electronics were destroyed, and the ceiling, doors, and windows were damaged. It sounded like a bomb.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the explosion and the subsequent deaths. He revealed that the couple had sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized before succumbing.

Chioma passed away first, followed by George days later. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, with suspicions ranging from a gas cylinder to a battery inverter.

The tragic incident has left behind their 3-year-old son, who was fortunately with his grandmother at the time.
