Former First Lady, Patience Faka Jonathan, has made it clear she has no intentions of returning to Aso Rock but will instead actively support the current First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, in the 2027 general elections.
While receiving the Women Icon Leader of the Year award from Accolade Dynamics Limited in Abuja, Patience Jonathan stressed the importance of rotational leadership for national unity.
“I believe in one presidency,” she said. “Leadership should be turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I’ll stand with you. When it’s not, step aside so the country can move forward.”
She praised Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu and the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, for her commitment to women’s advancement, expressing confidence in the Tinubu-led administration.
“We’re solidly behind you. No doubts. Lead us and we’ll follow,” she said.
Reflecting on her enduring friendship with Remi Tinubu, Patience described their bond as deep-rooted and unwavering. Known for her candid personality, she reaffirmed her loyalty:
“I speak my mind—if I don’t like something, I’ll say it. But when I support something, I do so wholeheartedly.”
