Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has been appointed as the Patron of the Ecumenical Synod of Bishops, Archbishops, and Senior Clergy Inc. (ESBAASC).
The appointment was announced during the group’s international conference held from August 22 to 25 at Emmanuel Park, RCCG Redemption Camp, as reported by Church Times. The event, themed “Religious Tolerance in Nigeria and Across the Nations of the World,” focused on strategies to enhance religious harmony.
ESBAASC, a coalition aimed at promoting unity and dialogue among Christian denominations, also appointed Archbishop Prof. Mary Ajisafe as Matron. Both nominations were warmly received with a standing ovation.
Represented by RCCG National Overseer Emeritus, Pastor Joseph Obayemi, Pastor Adeboye reflected on his youth and the peaceful coexistence he experienced with people of various faiths. He emphasized that religious tolerance is key to fostering mutual understanding and unity among different cultures.
Adeboye also noted that much of the religious conflict in Nigeria is politically driven, often manipulated during times of social unrest. He called on attendees to champion the cause of religious tolerance, urging believers to prioritize love and life over division and violence.
