Pastor Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, is criticized for praying to Israel regarding its ongoing conflict with Palestine.
It is noteworthy that following a historic onslaught by the armed Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday, Israel formally declared war on the Gaza Strip.
Since it began five days ago, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has resulted in thousands of fatalities and numerous displacements.
Pastor Adeboye used the microblogging site X during the crisis to offer his prayers to the Jewish-dominated nation in their tough times.
“In the name of Jesus, I pray that the Almighty will grant you complete peace going forward for all of our brethren in Israel. Peace in Israel,” he wrote.
Pastor Adeboye was criticized by many Nigerians for not making the same gestures when crises occur in Nigeria, while many others were outraged by the clergyman’s sympathy for Jews.
Reactions:
laurentdarl opined: “What about your beloved brothers in Palestine? These are the sentiments, less-intelligent Christians run with and make dull decisions.”
Iamkingsleyf stated: “Oga, your brethrens in Israel are less than 5%… The country itself is JUDAISM and they don’t like your kind. When will dumb africans have sense?”
EmperorKaas penned: “Your prayer never work for Nigeria ! You Dey send am go Israel. This man 🤦♂️.”
MohammedDBuhari added: “Am ashamed for this man. Imagine you praying for Isreal what about the Palestines in Gaza? Do you actually realize that you also have Christians as Palestines.
Palestine is not an Islamic country. I believe as a religious leader you should speak to both sides for peace and not be biased. Women and children are being killed in both Isreal and Palestine are they not humans that you should pray for them both? I hate talking about religion and religious leaders but it’s time we start advising them publicly if they do not have proper advisers.”
