Former QPR goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has thrown down a challenge to ex-Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney suggesting they settle their long-running feud in the boxing ring over Sergio Aguero’s iconic 2012 title-winning goal.
The dispute goes back to the dramatic final day of the 2011/12 Premier League season when Man City came from 2-1 down to beat QPR 3-2, with Aguero scoring a last-gasp winner that sealed City’s first-ever Premier League trophy at United’s expense.
Rooney has often claimed that Kenny should have “done better” to stop Aguero’s famous strike, hinting that the goalkeeper made it too easy.
Now, Kenny has had enough. Speaking to Boxing Social, he said:
“He keeps going on about that Aguero goal. If he’s still bothered after 13 years, maybe it’s time we sort it out in the ring. People say it looked like I let the goal in, but I didn’t!”
