Barring any last minute hitch, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has concluded plans to demolish Yinka Aiyefele’s property located along Lagos bypass, Challenge area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital. The said Ayefele’s landed property that also houses Yinka Aiyefele Incorporated has been marked for demolition by the Oyo State government in its roads expansion drive.
According to a statement issued by Ayefele’s publicist, “this N200million edifice has in its belly, two magnificent halls, an internet radio station, a standard studio and several offices. It also provides job for about 100 people and that places it among top employers of labour in Oyo State. This is Yinka Ayefele Music House that has being marked for demolition by Oyo State government.”
Many have continued to pick holes in the state government’s demolition exercises.
“The government wants to expand the road to an eight-lane road being proposed by the state government. The road and the house will be affected and there is nothing anybody can do about it. I don’t know why we put sentiments into things, Aiyefele is not the only one affected. Our collective interest outweighs individual interest. It is unfortunate that we are putting sentiments into it. The government is not out to haunt anybody rather we are bent on providing good road network for the masses. If he has his papers, government will compensate him,” a director at the Oyo State Ministry of Works told Daily Independent on the condition of anonymity.
The widely sought after singer, who also owns Fresh FM, an internet radio, as at the time of filing this report has contacted his lawyer for legal procedures to stop the planned demolition.
