Bishop David Oyedepo has strongly condemned claims dismissing the existence of ongoing genocide in Nigeria, questioning how anyone could make such assertions despite continuous violent attacks across communities.
Citing the recent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church assembly, the prominent cleric expressed shock that some individuals still attempt to downplay the seriousness of the situation.
Oyedepo queries narrative downplaying killings
According to him, those denying the crisis are ignoring obvious realities and deliberately misleading the public. He accused such individuals of spreading falsehoods despite the abundance of evidence pointing to widespread violence.
He calls for divine judgment on those spreading falsehood
Oyedepo warned that misrepresenting the truth in such a critical moment is spiritually dangerous, calling for divine action against those he believes are intentionally deceiving Nigerians.
His comments come amid rising public outrage over renewed assaults on rural communities and religious centres, with many Nigerians demanding accountability, clarity, and urgent government intervention.
He said…
“You say there’s no genocide? So what is genocide? Do you know grammar? The case is already on that record, on genocide, and you say there’s no genocide? Are you sleeping? So what happened last week in a CAC church is that Genocide or genotype? You find a company of liars hanging around everywhere, as if others are dummies. The Holy Ghost curses liars. Holy ghost come down and inflict curses on those lying against the truth.”
