It’s quite sad that the news over the weeks have featured famous Pastors and Prophets who may have bastardized the gathering of religious brethren.
Following recent scandals and catastrophes that have plagued either their ministries or themselves as individuals, three Nigerian pastors are facing the test of their faiths.
In the last one month, Pastors Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy, Ayo Oritsejafor, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and Prophet Temitope Joshua, of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOA) have been in the news for wrong reasons.
Also swimming in murky waters are Pastor Chris and his wife of many years; currently embroiled in a divorce suit which has been filed before a London family court, while Pastor Oritsejafor is being fingered as prime suspect in cash cum arms smuggling case.
Inclusive in the water is the famous Prophets known for countless prophecy for both the nation and other individuals, Pastor TB Joshua who witnessed the collapse of a building in his church which killed over 50 persons living many dumbfounded as to why he did not foresee the wreck.
Oritsejafor before the arms deal news broke had already been accused of reducing CAN to a political tool of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which is now been confirmed with the recent event that has again brought him in the news. He is now being accused by critics once again of purportedly purchasing arms for the Federal Government.
Oritsejafor has agreed he owns the jet that was seized by South African authorities and in which $9.3 million raw cash was found.
In the case of Prophet T.B. Joshua, the collapse of a building in his church on Friday, 12 September, which led to the death of at least 80 worshippers, has exposed him to severe criticisms.
Though the self-acclaimed prophet is claiming that the collapse involve the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, the Lagos State government has subtly refuted this claim, saying that structural defect is to be blamed.
With the death of scores, and President Jacob Zuma, president of South Africa asking that the church be held accountable for the death of South Africans who frequent the Synagogue for miracles, and a doubt over his ability to prophecy correctly, this are indeed perilous times a man whose predictions comes true.
On his part, Chris Oyakhilome, fondly called Pastor Chris, and his wife of his 16 years are not only about to end their union, but dividing their church and congregation as many are beginning to have doubts in their faith and teachings.
Despite this, Anita his wife has filed a divorce at a UK court on the ground that “the marriage has broken down irretrievably.” Many believe that this means she is indirectly accusing her husband of infidelity.
The controversies have being sired, and these men of God are now at the moment looking unto God to ensure that this is only a temporary phase which may pass.
Government and journalists should take it easy with these prophets and pastors, they are real and destined to work for GOD no matter the tribulations they are passing through.Everyone created by GOD, is bound to pass through a test period not minding how anointed or prayerful one may be, theirs has come and will pass, for GOD didn’t promise not to allow us fall into problem but promised to see us through

The clergy that are genuinely called are bound to face tribulations and temptation more. But it always strengthens them. I could remember when Fr Mbaka faced his own, about 14 ppl died in adoration ground. let's not judge so that we won't be judged.
