A new wave of controversy has surfaced following the arrest of outspoken social commentator VeryDarkMan by security personnel, shortly after he publicly criticized Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) over alleged unauthorized deductions from his mother’s account.
VeryDarkMan had earlier taken to Instagram to call out the bank for what he described as unjustified charges. According to Deji Adeyanju, his legal representative, he was apprehended by police at a GTB location after engaging in a conversation with the officers.
Adeyanju strongly condemned the arrest, stressing that holding institutions accountable should never be criminalized. In a tweet, he stated, “VDM was arrested by the police at GTB today. He spoke with them before being taken away. This is completely unacceptable. Demanding accountability is not a crime.”
