A bandit leader, dressed in military camouflage, has stirred up controversy after going live on TikTok to offer financial support to his followers.
Clips from the live session were shared on X, previously known as Twitter.
In the now-viral session, several of his followers were seen posting their account numbers in the comment section, seeking his financial help.
This sparked outrage, with many urging the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to locate and apprehend the individual.
Commenting under the handle @revi_ofthehills, Comr. Isah Muhammed remarked, “Security personnel can’t find him because he’s not holding an ‘end bad governance’ placard.”
@solbabyz added, “It’s shocking that these men can comfortably use smartphones. How does the Nigerian government lack the technology to track them, even without SIM cards? It’s insane that isolating a frequency from a specific location isn’t possible.”
@Nairaexchanger criticized, “He’s taking advantage of the banking system and telecommunications while the government looks the other way. Anyone who calls this government responsible is delusional.”
@Ezeifeka_Obinna questioned, “With all the military drones, capturing these people shouldn’t be such a waste of resources.”
@ikechukk asked, “Don’t these guys have accounts to freeze? Numbers to trace? Mothers to arrest?”
@moright20 suggested, “The government should ban TikTok.”
@ontophilll_ wondered, “Why can’t the DSS use the sender’s bank details to track them down?”
@pdauda pointed out, “Our bandits are always decked out in military gear, complete with full accessories and weapons. Meanwhile, soldiers will make young people roll in gutters for wearing the same camo, yet terrorists and bandits flaunt it freely. And the CDS or COAS aren’t even reacting.”
@abn_charles echoed, “I wonder if @PoliceNG even sees videos like this or if they’re too busy dealing with protests and harmless individuals.”
