Titilola Adeleke, the wife of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has generated significant online buzz with her public message to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. This gesture comes in the wake of a tense, viral moment involving her husband and the First Lady.
The Incident at the Ooni’s Palace
The controversy began during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, where Senator Tinubu was being honored with the chieftaincy title of Yeye-Asiwaju of Ile Oodua.
In a video that rapidly spread across social media, Governor Adeleke mounted the podium to give his address but began by singing, a trademark of his public appearances. The First Lady reportedly intervened, urging him to stop the music and focus on his speech.
She was heard saying:
“I’ll give you five minutes to finish your speech. The music is enough.”
When the Governor continued, she reportedly threatened to switch off his microphone, a moment that sparked widespread debate among netizens.
Titilola Adeleke’s Diplomatic Response
Despite the awkward public exchange, Titilola Adeleke took to social media hours later to address the First Lady with marked respect and warmth. Ignoring the controversy, she congratulated Senator Tinubu on her new title, referring to her affectionately as “Mummy.”
She wrote:
“I profoundly rejoice with the Mother of the Nation, Distinguished Senator (Dr) Oluremi Tinubu (CON), on her historic installation as the Yeye Oodua of Yoruba Land. This is another testament to your exemplary impact, virtues, and excellent dedication to serving humanity, uplifting lives, and communities across our country. Congratulations, Mummy!”
Tribute to the Ooni of Ife
Titilola also used the opportunity to laud the Ooni of Ife for his decade of leadership, highlighting his contributions to the development of the Yoruba race and Nigeria at large.
She added:
“To our referred Monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Kabiyesi Ooni of Ife, your reign on throne has brought monumental developments to Ife, Osun State and Nigeria most especially the Yoruba race. I pray long May you reign Kabiyesi, We pray the years ahead brings more successes.”
