Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has addressed the misunderstanding surrounding reports of actor Ibrahim Chatta’s son’s death.
The mix-up began after Chatta shared an emotional post on Instagram, mourning the painful loss of someone he referred to as his “son.” Many fans and colleagues assumed he meant his biological child, which prompted a wave of condolences.
Among those who reached out was Opeyemi Aiyeola, who initially prayed for strength and comfort for the actor and his family.
In a new statement, however, she clarified that Chatta did not lose his biological son but rather his godson, who was also very dear to him. She described the period as deeply emotional and prayed for the peaceful rest of the deceased’s soul.
“Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson, who was like a son to him. May his gentle soul rest in peace. This has truly been an emotional journey. God have mercy,” she wrote.
A check on Chatta’s Instagram confirmed this clarification, as the actor has since updated his original post to specify that it was indeed his godson who passed away.
