The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has stirred controversy after alleging that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, had an intimate relationship with his former wife while their marriage was still intact.
In a video that has gone viral across social media, the Iwo monarch also expressed doubts about the paternity of the child from the union, raising fresh concerns about a long-standing feud between the two traditional rulers.
“They Packaged a Woman to Destroy Me” — Oluwo Alleges
Sharing the video on his official Instagram page, Oba Akanbi claimed that his ex-wife was introduced to him from Canada as part of a calculated plot to end his life and destabilize his reign.
“My things are hidden. None of you can endure what these people have done to me. They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her from Canada. It was a setup. She was in my house for over three years, communicating with them and plotting my death,” Oba Akanbi stated.
According to him, the woman allegedly attempted to poison him twice and made multiple assassination attempts while secretly collaborating with the Ooni of Ife and his associates.
“They were setting me up with videos and many things in my own house. This supposedly ex-wife was asking me questions in the room, but it was death they sent into my home. She had a child, whom I don’t even know if he’s my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA,” he added.
Allegations of Conspiracy and Betrayal
Oba Akanbi further alleged that after he ended the marriage, the Ooni of Ife arranged accommodation for his ex-wife and the child, and was later seen with her in a hotel.
The monarch concluded by declaring that his conflict with the Ooni would “never end,” suggesting deep-rooted tensions and unresolved issues between both royal figures.
