Okonjo-Iweala Fails to Win World Bank Presidency

Sources within the World Bank. have confirmed that Mr.  Jim Yong Kim  who is the United States nominee for the post of World President has been named ahead of Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the next president of the apex bank.

Mr. Kim will head the bank for the next four years and his tenure is expected to commence on July 1.

 

However, earlier in the day, Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala surprisingly admitted she did not really expect to be named to the coveted position.  She told journalists, “You know this thing is not really being decided on merit…It is voting with political weight and shares, and therefore the United States will get it.”
