One of the official cars of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Ogun State, South-West,Nigeria, Suraj Adekunbi has been stolen.
The seven-man gang, who had laid in ambush along the popular Abiola Way in the state capital, Abeokuta , Thursday night snatched the Toyota Avensis car with number plate Ogun AYE 86 AA at gunpoint from Adekunbi.
Sources said the speaker himself was behind the wheels when the incident happened and that he was held hostage and then driven to Kobape along Abeokuta- Sagamu Expressway before he was released alongside the security detail who was in the car with him.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident had been reported to the police, who are making efforts to recover the stolen vehicle.
However, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Waheed Akinola, denied knowledge of the incident, saying “I don’t think that can happen.”
