Following days of protests, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has directed students to vacate the school premises immediately.
Students of the school have been protesting hike in tuition, disrupting normal academic activities in a bid to force the school authorities to rescind the increment.
The school administration in a statement released this afternoon ordered students to vacate their Halls of Residence on or before 12 noon on Thursday, 19th June, 2014, citing ‘persistent disruption of normal activities and peace on campus as a result of violent demonstrations by students, led by the Student Union Executive’ as their reason for shutting down the school indefinitely.
Parents are hereby enjoined to ensure that their children/wards comply with this directive immediately,” part of the statement read.
