Col. Agene Ogwuche (rtd), father of the the alleged mastermind of the Nyannya motor park bombings, Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche has been arrested.
This was disclosed on Thursday by Deputy Director in charge of Public Relations of the service, Marylyn Ogar, at the National Information Centre.
The elderly, Ogwuche is being detained because he breached the terms of the bond, which he signed while taking his son’s bail in 2012.
According to details emerging ,Sadiq Ogwuche, a Britishborn Nigerian was arrested on November 12, 2011 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on arrival from the UK on terrorism related charges.
However, due to immense pressure from human rights activists he was released on October 15, 2012, after his father signed a bail bond pledging to produce his son when needed for questioning.
Police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, who also spoke at the briefing, noted that the arrest of Oguwche Snr. does n’t mean he is being accused of acts of terrorism.
