The Deputy Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State Council, Alhaji Kamorudeen Beyioku, has died following gunshot wounds he sustained in the hands of unknown gun men earlier in the week.
Beyioku reportedly gave up the ghost at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan in the early hours of Saturda
Confirming the incident, the Police spokesperson in the state, Mr Ayodele Lanade, disclosed that armed policemen kept vigil at the ICU while the battle to save Beyioku’s life lasted.
He added that he has not been properly briefed over the circumstances leading to the death of the erstwhile Deputy Chairman of the Oyo NURTW.
Alhaji Beyioku was among the newly-inaugurated members of the State Executive of the Oyo NURTW, sworn in on the 21st of December, 2012 to steer the affairs of the union for the next four years.
