Popular content creator, Nons Miraj, has opened up about her path to financial independence, emphasizing that she earned her first million without relying on any man.
During a recent podcast appearance, the actress and comedian recounted her modest beginnings and how she eventually carved a niche for herself in the entertainment world.
Initially starting her career in Nollywood, she described the pay as disappointing.
“It wasn’t worth it — you could make ₦90K after filming for three months. Compared to a regular job paying ₦70K monthly, it felt like a waste,” she said.
Looking for better income streams, Nons Miraj began buying and reselling perfumes and jewelry.
“I’d go to Balogun market, buy perfumes and jewelry for ₦3K, and sell them for ₦50K. I split the profit — half for my piggy bank, the other half for living expenses.”
Though she caught the attention of men, she clarified they didn’t finance her lifestyle.
“Yes, men came around — but not the type to bankroll your life. I was in a relationship, but there was no sugar daddy arrangement.”
Her real breakthrough came when she dived into content creation, which also boosted her income from acting.
“After my social media blew up, acting gigs started paying ₦300K. I was saving with my mom, running a salon, and had my own personal savings.”
The turning point came with the evolution of her brand, ‘Ada Jesus’, which led to endorsement deals and her first $20,000, especially after launching her YouTube series, Love Show.
“I didn’t sit around waiting for a man to give me things. My pride and confidence grew when I realized I could provide everything for myself,” she concluded.
Her journey highlights the power of hard work, strategy, and independence, challenging the common notion that successful women must be funded by wealthy men.
