Uchechi Ukwu, wife of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reacted to Nyesom Wike’s recent comments regarding her husband’s ongoing trial.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wike, had stated that he is willing to testify as a witness in Kanu’s terrorism case if summoned by the court.
Responding via her X (formerly Twitter) account, Uchechi wrote:
“Of course. That is the process we expect from the court. #FreeNnamdiKanu”
Her statement signals the family’s confidence in the judicial process while continuing to push for Kanu’s freedom.
Kanu, who is facing terrorism-related charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja, has reportedly listed several high-profile Nigerians — including Wike — as potential defense witnesses.
The inclusion of such influential figures adds a political dimension to the case, emphasizing the ongoing tension between governance, activism, and justice in Nigeria.
This development also follows the recent arrest and detention of Kanu’s brother, lawyer, and supporters during a peaceful #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja.
As the case progresses, Uchechi’s reaction highlights the family’s unwavering stand for due process and justice, as both local and international observers closely follow the trial’s outcome.
